2020 is well on its way and we have just finished Vision Sunday!
In September 2019 myself, Kelly and our senior team went on our annual prayer and planning retreat. God spoke to myself and Kelly clearly in two separate ways and confirming the same words “higher ground” for our church in 2020.
Our prayer is that each family, each person, in every season, would seek higher ground in their relationship with God, relationships with others and their relationship with the church.
Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.
And the boy Samuel continued to grow in stature and in favor with the Lord and with people.
You crown the year with a bountiful harvest; even the hard pathways overflow with abundance.
Each scripture highlights a different aspect of our vision for the year.
Ephesians 3:20-21 tells us that all glory belongs to God and that He is able to do immeasurably more than you could ask, dream or imagine according to the work that is already at work within us. This is so exciting!
This means we already have everything we need to do what God has called us to do and that He is able to do immeasurably more with the work of our hands.
The second scripture, 1 Samuel 2:26 tells us that Samuel continued to grow in stature and favour with the Lord and with man.
Our pray for every partner of View Church Tygerberg Hills is that they will continue to grow in stature and in favour with the Lord and with the world around them.
The final scripture is Psalm 65:11, this is more of a benediction than a teaching. We are pronouncing and declaring this scripture over the future of our church. It’s with these three Scriptures in mind that we have set some prayer goals for 2020.
500 people saved
400 people attending
300 people in groups
200 people in teams
100 people baptized
As you can see our vision is all about reaching people and equipping them to become everything God has purposed for them to be.
As a church we pursue health and embrace growth. We are less focused on simply ticking boxes while achieving these goals and more focused on who we are becoming while we set out to see these goals fulfilled. These are not holy numbers but the people who make them are truly precious. Every number has the name, every name has a story, and every single story matters to God.
We would like to encourage and invite you to join us as we seek God’s higher ground in 2020, and as we attempt to achieve these great goals to the glory of God.
